Visa ($V): Post-Earnings Technical Analysis & Trading Plan
Published: May 05, 2026
Visa ($V$) recently reported a strong earnings beat ($3.31 EPS vs. $3.10 expected), yet the price action has remained in a consolidation phase. For swing traders, this "sideways" movement after good news often creates a high-probability setup once a direction is confirmed. Here is the technical breakdown and plan.
1. The Ichimoku Cloud Perspective
We are looking for a shift in momentum using the Cloud:
- Resistance Zone: The stock is currently fighting around the $321–$325 range. A clean daily close above $334 is required to clear the Cloud and signal a bullish trend resumption.
- Signal Confirmation: Watch for the Tenkan (fast line) to cross above the Kijun (slow line) while price remains above the Cloud for a high-conviction entry.
2. ICT & Market Structure
Applying momentum and liquidity concepts to identify institutional footprints:
- Liquidity Sweep: Keep a close eye on the $308–$310 area. If price dips into this zone to grab liquidity and then quickly "displaces" back upward, it marks a significant Smart Money reversal.
- Fair Value Gaps (FVG): An impulsive move toward $341 will likely leave a gap. If that happens, we look to buy the retracement into that gap (the Optimal Trade Entry).
The Execution Plan
Entry: Starter position if price holds above $321; add full size on a break and retest of $334.
Stop Loss: Daily close below $316 (tight) or $308 (swing basis).
Target 1: $341 (Take 50% profit and move stop to break-even).
Target 2: $360+ (Running for the 52-week highs).
